Two Desks, One Standard
Vehicles and freight are different jobs, so they are handled by different desks. What Our Prices Are Built On
The figures on our service pages come from our own bookings, not estimates: the median open-carrier car move over 1,500 miles booked at about $1,500, enclosed runs about a third more on the same lane, and February prices about 10 percent below a typical month while June runs about 12 percent above it. Specialized Services
Oversize and heavy haul freight takes more than a standard carrier. SAC arranges construction and agricultural equipment, cranes, forklifts, boats, trailers and full freight loads on the right trailer for the job: flatbed, step deck, double drop, Landoll or removable gooseneck. Anything over 8 feet 6 inches wide or 13 feet 6 inches tall becomes a permitted load, and the carriers we place pull the state permits, arrange escorts where a state requires them and plan a compliant route before the load rolls; those costs are in the quote before dispatch, not added at delivery. Which Desk Do You Need
The rule is simple. If the thing you are shipping can be driven onto a car carrier, it belongs to the auto desk: cars, pickups, SUVs, vans, motorcycles, golf carts, ATVs and side by sides, and non running vehicles that can still roll onto a winch equipped truck. Everything else belongs to the freight desk: trailers of every kind, construction and farm equipment, boats on their trailers, RVs and campers, shipping containers, commercial trucks and buses, and anything that needs a permit for its width, height or weight. The two desks use different carriers, different equipment and different calculators, and the coordinators on each know their side of the business. If you are not sure which one you need, call either number and you will be moved to the right one in a minute.
How a Booking Works
Every move follows the same six steps. You give us the vehicle or the load, the two addresses and the dates, either through a calculator or by phone. Your coordinator prices the lane and confirms the pickup window. A vetted carrier is assigned, and only then is any payment taken. At pickup the driver and you walk the vehicle or the load together, note its condition on the bill of lading and both sign it. In transit your coordinator is the person you call, and you hear about a delay before you have to ask. At delivery you inspect against the same bill of lading before you sign, and any damage noted there is what a claim is paid on. Nothing about that changes whether you are shipping one sedan or a fleet of excavators.
What Our Prices Are Built On
Where we have booked the move ourselves, the figures on our service pages come from our own order book rather than estimates copied from other sites. Where our book has nothing to show, and on the more specialized machines it has nothing, the page says so plainly and labels its figures as industry estimates. Carriers, Insurance and Accountability
We are a broker, not a carrier, and that is the point. The job is choosing the right truck from a network of more than 15,000 vetted carriers for your lane, your vehicle and your dates, and staying accountable for the result. Every carrier is checked for active federal authority, cargo insurance and safety record before it is dispatched to your order, and its cargo policy covers your vehicle or load in transit. Condition is documented on the bill of lading at both ends, which is why the inspection at delivery matters more than any other minute of the move. Domestic moves run door to door wherever a truck can legally and safely reach, which is nearly every address in the lower 48; where a residential street cannot take a 75 foot carrier, the driver and you agree on a nearby meet point. Alaska moves combine trucking with a barge or the highway through Canada, and Hawaii moves combine trucking to a West Coast port with a weekly sailing to the islands, so both are quoted as multi leg jobs with their own timing. Common Questions About Our Services
Do I pay a deposit to book? No. No payment is taken until a carrier has been assigned to your order, on either desk.
How far ahead should I book? A week or two is comfortable for most auto moves and lets your coordinator pair your car with freight already moving your way. Oversize freight, Alaska, Hawaii and the snowbird peaks want more lead time.
Can I ship a car and a trailer or equipment together? The two desks price and dispatch separately because they use different carriers, but one coordinator can hold both bookings and line up the dates.
Is my vehicle insured in transit? Yes, by the assigned carrier’s cargo policy, which we verify before dispatch. Damage noted on the bill of lading at delivery is what a claim is paid on.
