Ship a snowmobile open or enclosed, a single sled or a whole group, with rates that drop when they travel together.
Snowmobile shipping runs on a calendar more tightly than almost anything else we haul. Sleds move north and west as the season opens and back south when it closes, and the carriers willing to take them are busiest in exactly those weeks. Ski-Doo, Polaris, Arctic Cat and Yamaha machines all load the same way, strapped down through the tunnel and ski loops onto a carrier deck or inside an enclosed trailer. Unlike a boat or a jet ski, a sled needs no trailer of its own, which removes the single biggest failure point on watercraft moves.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges snowmobile transport nationwide for individual riders, groups heading to the same destination, dealerships moving new stock and trade-ins, and collectors with vintage machines. Multiple sleds on one order are quoted as one load rather than separate shipments. Enclosed transport is an everyday option on a sled, because much of the powersports network already runs enclosed trailers. No up-front deposit is required. Call (866) 821-4555 for a free quote, or enter your sleds and dates in the quote calculator for an estimate by email. A specialist then calls to confirm the final price for your sleds.
Snowmobiles rarely travel alone. Pairs going to a cabin, three or four heading to a riding trip, a dealer moving trade-ins: these are the shipments that belong on one order, because the second and third sled ride the same truck to your lane. Quoting them together rather than separately puts every sled on one dispatch with one delivery window.
On a car, enclosed transport is a significant upcharge. On a snowmobile it often is not, because much of the powersports carrier network already runs enclosed trailers as standard equipment. That matters in winter, when the alternative is your sled riding through road salt and slush for a week. We quote both and tell you the real difference on your lane rather than assuming.
Snowmobile rates climb when everyone wants the same trucks, and the peak winter weeks in the northern states are when that pressure runs highest. We will tell you honestly whether your dates sit inside that window and what shifting by a week would change. Booking before the rush is the surest way to hold a pickup date, and it costs nothing to make.
Snowmobiles are among the easier machines to ship. They are light, they strap down securely, and the hull tolerates weather. Most of the preparation is about what you take off the sled and being honest about its condition.
A specialist confirms the price on every sled move, because the season, the trailer and the number of machines on the order all shape it. Enter your sleds, both ZIP codes and your dates in the quote calculator to get an estimate by email. A transport specialist then calls you to confirm the final price, or you can call (866) 821-4555 first. We also move ATV and UTV shipping and jet ski shipping on the same network.
What sled owners ask before booking, answered plainly. If your situation is not covered, call (866) 821-4555 and a coordinator will go through your lane and your dates with you.
Outside the two rushes. Rates firm up as the season opens and again when it closes and everyone moves sleds the other way, most of all in the northern states. Shipping in the shoulder weeks keeps you out of both rushes, and a few days of give on pickup helps a carrier fit your sled onto a truck already heading your way.
If you have two to move, always quote them together. The second machine rides a truck already committed to your lane, so it is priced as deck space rather than a fresh shipment, and the per-sled cost drops meaningfully. It also means one pickup, one delivery and one coordinator instead of two of everything.
Yes, and enclosed is the sensible choice for one. Older machines have paint and decals that do not tolerate road salt, and parts that are difficult to replace if something is knocked off in transit. Tell us it is a collector machine so the carrier knows to block and strap it accordingly rather than treating it as a current model.
Alaska involves a sea or long overland leg and is quoted case by case rather than from a standard rate. Give us the origin, the destination and your dates and we will tell you honestly whether it is something we can arrange competitively for your situation.
Two to three weeks in season, more if your dates are fixed around a trip. Snowmobile lanes concentrate into a short window and the carriers who take sleds fill up, so lead time is what secures your pickup date here. Off season you can move much faster.
Often yes. If a household is relocating or a family is moving toys and vehicles to the same address, they can be quoted on one order and share a truck. Mention everything you need moved at quote time rather than booking them separately, because the combined rate is almost always better.
It makes no difference. Sleds are loaded onto a deck or into an enclosed trailer with ramps and a winch, not ridden on. Bare pavement at either end is entirely normal, particularly when a machine is heading south at the end of the season or coming from a dealership.
Almost nothing we haul is as calendar-driven as a snowmobile. Demand concentrates into a handful of weeks at each end of the season, and it runs in one direction at a time: sleds north and west as the snow arrives, south and east as it goes. When everyone wants the same carriers in the same two weeks, rates move, and the northern states feel it most. Booking three weeks earlier buys a pickup date, which no amount of shopping around can do in those weeks.
On cars, enclosed transport is a clear premium product. On snowmobiles, enclosed is an everyday choice, because a large share of the powersports network already runs enclosed trailers as standard equipment. The gap between open and enclosed on your lane depends on the trucks running it that week. Given winter roads carry salt and brine, it is always worth asking for both numbers rather than assuming enclosed is out of reach.
Unlike a boat or a personal watercraft, a snowmobile does not need its own trailer to travel. It loads straight onto a carrier deck or into an enclosed trailer and straps down through the tunnel and ski loops. That removes the single biggest failure point on watercraft moves, which is a trailer that has never run a long highway mile, and it is why sled shipments are among the more predictable jobs on the board.
Every SAC snowmobile order is handled by a dedicated coordinator who arranges the carrier, confirms cargo insurance is active, and stays with the shipment to delivery. With a group of sleds heading to one destination that matters more than usual, because there is one person tracking the whole load rather than a different voice for each machine.
Please note: we do not publish snowmobile prices on this page. Each sled is priced on its lane, the season and the trailer it rides in, and a specialist calls to confirm the final price once your emailed estimate is in.
