Rochester Car Shipping

For a sedan on an open carrier, figure $550 to $850 to or from New York City, $800 to $1,150 to or from Chicago and $1,200 to $1,550 to or from Denver; those three are distance bands from moves of similar length booked between September 2025 and August 2026. The Tampa and Los Angeles rows run one way only: $1,000 to $1,250 to Tampa for a car heading south from Rochester, and $1,600 to $2,000 from Los Angeles for one coming east, both the middle half of our own New York to Florida and California to New York open-carrier orders since 2023.

From loading day, New York City is a day away, Chicago 1-2 days, Tampa 3-4, Denver 3-5 and Los Angeles 5-7. Ahead of that, the pickup is set for a day when the carrier’s trailer has a spot for your car, and in lake-effect season a Rochester pickup can slip by a day while the Thruway is plowed.

Sometimes, briefly. A heavy band off Lake Ontario can park carrier traffic for a day while the Thruway gets plowed, and the local drivers treat that as ordinary winter craft. We book December-through-February moves with a built-in flex day, so a storm costs patience rather than money.

Most of Monroe County loads in the driveway. The tighter grid around Park Avenue and the East End meets the truck a few minutes away on a wide stretch of East or Monroe Avenue, and that meeting point is settled with you before pickup day arrives.

For most of the year, a week or two of notice is enough for a Rochester pickup. Book further ahead for August, when students arrive, and for October, when snowbird cars head south, and leave a spare day around any winter date in case a lake-effect band rolls in.
