A City Named for Its Zoning
Parkland is exactly what its name promises. Incorporated in 1963 with a charter written to keep the city park-like, it spent decades as horse country of ranches and big lots, and even as the gated communities arrived it held the line: generous setbacks, deep landscaping, and famously little commercial development inside the city. Residents drive to Coral Springs or Boca for errands, and they consider that a feature.
