Door-to-door Hampton car shipping at the mouth of the tunnel, with a gate-side lot for Langley, research center report dates, and Phoebus met on Mellen Street.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges door-to-door vehicle transport for Hampton, the old port at the tip of the Peninsula, where the air base flies its fighters from the north edge of the city behind its gates, the space agency’s research center sits beside it, I-64 dives under the harbor to Norfolk at the east end of town with the backup that comes with it, the university fills the blocks along the river, the coliseum and the shopping fill the Mercury Boulevard exits, the old fort holds the point, and the beach at Buckroe faces the bay. The carrier that picks up your car on the Peninsula is licensed and insured, and we vet it before the job is assigned.
Carriers reach the city on I-64 between Richmond and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, and the lots on Mercury Boulevard near the interstate, on Armistead Avenue outside the base gate and on Settlers Landing Road at the downtown exit give a 75-foot rig room to pull over and load. No carrier drives onto Langley or into the research center, so a base family meets the truck at a lot on Armistead, and the older Phoebus blocks, where cars line the curbs, meet it on Mellen Street; elsewhere the grid streets take it to the door, with the tunnel traffic setting the hand-off hour on the east side. We move cars for airmen and their families on orders, federal hires reporting to the research center, Hampton University students arriving in late August, and Navy families who settle on the Peninsula side of the harbor.

For a move between the Peninsula and anywhere else in the state, our Virginia car shipping guide covers the statewide routes, the seasons and how prices run.
Carriers do not enter the base, so an Air Force family on orders meets the truck at a lot outside the gate on Armistead Avenue, fixed when you book, timed to the report date, with a second car on the same order when the family has two.
Federal hires at the space agency’s center get a window worked backward from the report date, and the itemized invoice a federal relocation claim requires.
Estimates come by email from the quote calculator: enter the route, the car and your dates, and a specialist then calls to confirm the Hampton price. From that quote to the signed inspection at delivery, one coordinator handles the Hampton order, so a base family or a research center hire always knows whom to call.
Hampton sits at the north end of the I-64 tunnel to Norfolk. Five things shape what you pay:
Hampton's table draws on one source: the Boston, Jacksonville, Nashville, San Antonio and Phoenix bands come from what customers paid in our bookings between September 2025 and August 2026 for trips about as long.
The ranges above are for a sedan on an open trailer leaving or reaching the Peninsula; a full-size pickup, a three-row SUV or a non-running car is priced above them, and enclosed transport adds about a third. Get an estimate for your Hampton route by email from the quote calculator, or a quote by calling (866) 821-4555. No deposit is taken until a carrier is assigned to your move.
The fighters fly from the north edge of the city, and their families’ cars meet the truck outside the gate on Armistead.
The space agency’s oldest field center sits beside the base, and its hires arrive on report dates.
I-64 dives under the harbor at the east end of town, and the afternoon backup sets the hand-off hour.
The old stone fort holds the point where the Peninsula meets the bay, and the visitors walk its walls.
Please note: On the Hampton table, Boston, Jacksonville, Nashville, San Antonio and Phoenix are distance bands, built from what customers paid between September 2025 and August 2026. For your own car and dates, the calculator sends an estimate by email, and we book the price a specialist confirms.
