Door-to-door Blacksburg car shipping on the Virginia Tech calendar, with bypass-lot hand-offs near campus and Christiansburg meeting points off I-81.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges door-to-door vehicle transport for Blacksburg, the Montgomery County town that Virginia Tech built, where the US-460 bypass wraps the campus, I-81 waits ten minutes away at Christiansburg, Main Street runs the length of a hill town, Lane Stadium fills on home-game Saturdays in the fall, and the Hokie Stone buildings climb the drillfield. Whichever carrier loads the car is licensed and insured, and we finish vetting it before the assignment goes out.
Pickups here follow the academic calendar: students arrive in mid-August and leave in mid-May, faculty tend to move on summer contracts, and the Corporate Research Center hires all year, so we ask for about three weeks of notice around move-in and move-out. Carriers running I-81 come off at Christiansburg and take US-460 into town, and the bypass exits at Main Street and Prices Fork lead to lots on University City Boulevard with room for a 75-foot rig. Campus roads and the student blocks downtown are closed to a hauler, and the steep, narrow streets on the north side are no easier, so those addresses meet the truck at a bypass lot or in Christiansburg, agreed at booking. We do not schedule pickups on home football Saturdays.

Students and families shipping elsewhere in the state will find routes, seasons and prices in our Virginia car shipping guide.
For August move-in and May move-out we ask for three weeks of notice, and the hand-off is set at a bypass lot close to campus.
Carriers running I-81 through the valley come off at Christiansburg, so a car here can join a run that is already passing.
Enter the route, the car and the semester dates in the quote calculator, and a Blacksburg estimate arrives by email before a specialist confirms the figure. One coordinator keeps the order from that point to the inspection at delivery, whether a parent or the student is on the phone.
Blacksburg reaches I-81 by the US-460 bypass through Christiansburg. Five things decide what your shipment costs:
Blacksburg cars load at a lot on the US-460 bypass, in Christiansburg off I-81, or at the door where the street is wide enough. All five rows are distance bands, the middle half of what customers paid for moves of similar length in our bookings between September 2025 and August 2026, covering New York, Charlotte, Nashville, Orlando and Denver.
The bands assume a sedan on an open trailer, so a pickup, an SUV or a car that does not run lands higher, and enclosed adds about a third. For the price of your own Blacksburg route, try the quote calculator or call (866) 821-4555. No deposit is taken until a carrier is assigned to your move.
The campus buildings are faced in limestone quarried nearby.
The oval at the center of campus was the cadets’ parade ground.
Entrances to “Enter Sandman” are a fall tradition.
The rail trail links Blacksburg to Christiansburg.
Please note: None of these rows is a lane of our own: the New York, Charlotte, Nashville, Orlando and Denver figures come from trips of similar distance booked with us from September 2025 to August 2026. A Blacksburg quote also moves with the semester calendar and fuel, and a specialist confirms it by phone once the calculator’s estimate is sent.
