Door-to-door Johnston car shipping where I-295 meets Route 6, with Thornton hand-offs on Atwood Avenue, office-campus pickups, and Florida snowbird runs.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges door-to-door vehicle transport for Johnston, the town on Providence’s western edge where I-295 crosses Route 6 and Hartford Avenue, Atwood Avenue carries the commercial strip, and the neighborhoods run from the tight blocks of Thornton to the reservoir woods out toward Scituate. Only a licensed, insured carrier that has passed our vetting is given a pickup on Atwood Avenue or anywhere else in town.
I-295 runs through town with exits at Route 6, Hartford Avenue and Greenville Avenue, Route 6 reaches I-95 downtown in about ten minutes, and the strip lots on Atwood Avenue and Hartford Avenue give a 75-foot rig room to load. The postwar subdivisions off Greenville Avenue and Central Avenue have driveways and wide streets the truck can use. Thornton’s older blocks near the Providence line are narrow with cars on both curbs, so those addresses meet the truck on Atwood Avenue or Plainfield Pike at a spot agreed when you book. We handle family moves, cars bought or sold out of state, hand-offs at the office campuses, and snowbird runs to Florida.

Routes, seasons and prices for the rest of Rhode Island are laid out in our statewide car shipping guide.
Exits at Route 6, Hartford Avenue and Greenville Avenue bring a carrier off the Providence loop and onto the strip lots in about a minute.
Narrow two-sided-parking streets near the city line get a meeting point on Atwood Avenue or Plainfield Pike, fixed when you book.
The quote calculator needs only the route, the vehicle and your dates to email a Johnston estimate, and a specialist then calls to confirm the price. A single coordinator stays on the order, Thornton block or Greenville Avenue driveway, until the car passes its delivery inspection.
Johnston loads beside I-295, about ten minutes from downtown Providence on Route 6. Five things set your price:
Johnston sits on Providence's western edge where I-295 meets Route 6, and the strip lots on Atwood Avenue and Hartford Avenue give the truck room a minute off the ramp. New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando and Houston on the table below are distance bands: the middle half of what customers paid for moves of similar length in our bookings from September 2025 to August 2026.
Each band is built on a sedan riding an open trailer: SUVs, pickups and cars that will not start run higher, and enclosed transport adds about a third. Ask the quote calculator for a Johnston estimate by email, or call (866) 821-4555 for a quote. No deposit is taken until a carrier is assigned to your move.
The 1679 Clemence-Irons House shows Rhode Island’s oldest building style.
The state park keeps a working farm inside town lines.
War Memorial Park centers Johnston’s calendar.
Downtown is a ten-minute hop east on Route 6.
Please note: The Johnston table’s New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando and Houston rows reflect what customers paid for moves of similar distance between September 2025 and August 2026. Season, fuel and vehicle change the final figure, and for a Thornton block or a Greenville Avenue driveway we book the price a specialist confirms after the emailed estimate.
