Everything You Need to Know About the State of Tennessee (TN)
In 1796, Tennessee was recognized as a state of the Union. It shares a boundary with North Carolina to the east and Arkansas and Missouri to the west. Two major cities in the state are Memphis and Nashville and it is popularly known as the center of country music and the blues.
The cities have hosted the best artists such as Dolly Parton, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley. Music is not the only thing Memphis is well known for, as its barbecue is so fantastic they hold a “Memphis in May” barbecue yearly.
Future president Andrew Jackson founded the city of Memphis on May 22, 1819, along with John Overton and James Winchester. They named it after the ancient Egyptian city of Memphis—meaning “place of good abode”—which was located at the head of the Nile River Delta.
William Strickland, the engineer and architect of the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville, died in 1854 during the building’s construction. At his request, he was laid to rest within the structure’s walls.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is America’s most visited national park, charming more than 9.4 million people in 2010. Well-known as the “Salamander Capital of the World,” the park hosts the most diverse inhabitants of salamanders in the world: 30 different species.
Memphis, Tennessee, is home to Graceland, Elvis Presley & rescue’s former estate. It is one of the most visited personal residences in America–second only to the White House.
Car Shipping in Tennessee
Tennessee is a state that offers multiple points of attraction for visitors and prospective residents. If you have a reason to move to Tennessee on either a short term or long-term basis, then you do not need to worry about shipping your car. This is because the car shipping process can be as easy and stress free for you, if you have the right help.
Here is a guide to point you in the right direction.
Documents Needed for Car Shipping in Tennessee
Car Documents
The car shipping company you engage will request you provide a copy of your car’s document. This document will include information about the car’s name and model, the brand and other relevant information about the car.
Document Showing Proof of Ownership
As a security measure, it is standard practice for you to present a document that proves you own the vehicle that is to be shipped.
Means of identification
As can be expected, you will also be required to provide a means of identification. This could be your driver’s license, international passport or a state issued ID.
Factors Influencing Cost of Car Shipping
Certain factors serve as determinants that influence how much you spend when shipping your car to or from Tennessee. Some of them are:
Method of Shipping
There are two primary car shipping methods in Tennessee, the open method and the enclosed method. The open method is the cheaper one, and it involves transporting vehicles in an open carriage. Although the open method leaves the vehicle exposed to elements such as rain, dust, and snow, it oftentimes remain the preferred method due to its price.
The enclosed method makes use of an enclosed carriage, protecting the cars from all forms of external elements. This method is typically more expensive than the open method.
Peak Seasons
Over time, it has been observed that summer is the most preferred time of the year for most travelers. This is mostly due to long breaks in schools that allow families to have time to travel together. As a result, there is an increased demand for car shipping companies in this period, causing a hike in car shipping costs.
Overall Distance
The distance the shipping company covers when shipping your car also determines its costs. The longer the distance covered, the higher the costs.
Size and weight of the car
The cost of shipping will vary depending on the type of car. For instance, a truck would cost more to transport than a smaller car, depending on its size. The amount of fuel used by the auto carrier depends on the size and weight of the vehicle. Additionally, larger automobiles require more space, so you should let the shipping business know what size vehicle you intend to ship.
Accessibility of location
There are times when a location is more difficult to enter and exit, and other times it takes longer for truck drivers to pick up and deliver vehicles to / from remote areas; for these reasons, shipping to some locations is more expensive. Deliveries to prominent locations are less expensive and take less time because the route is well-known to the drivers.
Pick-up and delivery flexibility
You can negotiate better prices by being flexible with your delivery schedule and location. You will pay more if you need emergency shipment or have a tight schedule. Shipping is always more expensive when it is expedited. To further cut costs, you can go the extra mile and meet the truck driver at a prearranged place.

We worked with Bob and he was fantastic. He always answered my call, explained the process thoroughly and kept me up to date during the process. I'll admit I was nervous, but definitely selected the right company to work with. Would definitely recommend.

We strongly recommend contacting a shipping company directly. For the $225 fee we had little or no communication from pick-up (we were able to find the name/number of the driver we were told was going to pick up our bike -- but he was unaware he was supposed to pick it up and wouldn't have on the scheduled day had we not contacted him) until delivery unless we initiated and tracked down individuals, most of who were drivers and unable to assist us as to located the bike and determining a deliver date. The estimated delivery date was off by a full week and attempts to find a more accurate delivery date was unsuccessful (though we did manage to contact a driver that left the bike in Oklahoma City -- though courtesous and wanting to be helpful, couldn't help us). We received less than 24 hours notice of delivery. Finally, even the payment instructions were in error so that when the bike was finally delivered, the form of payment (a cashier's check as we were instructed to prepare) was not correct. We ended up paying by credit card, not a problem, but seems like a simple detail that a brokerage company should be aware of. Instead, we wasted time one evening to go to our bank to secure an unnecessary cashier's check. My advice? Bypass this broker company and contact shipper directly. We gained no advantage or service worth the $225 on top of the $525 to ship the bike. We could have saved $225 OR spent the combined $750 on renting a truck, fuel and one night hotel to transport it ourselves with more predictability.

I used Ship A Car Inc to transport my car from California to Wisconsin. After reading a few reviews, yes, the transport truck could be a double decker truck with several cars. Therefore, the driver will ask you to meet him/her at a location near your home...This was my first time shipping a car . How do you find a reputable company? Well, I prayed and read reviews.. I spoke with Bob at Ship A Car, I felt comfortable with the rate and transportation terms. I had no issues. There were no hidden fees, the car was delivered on time and no damages. Thanks Bob for beinging friendly and honest.

We're an auto transport company and they provide all of the trucks for transport. We've been working with them for about six months now. They respond very quickly and give you fair rates. When they promise you a pick up date, they're always on time.

Simply the best. We use them to transport all of our customer's vehicles. We need to be able to trust the company transporting supercars for us, and no one comes close in quality and service as this company. Highly recommend them!
