Door-to-door Johnson City car shipping on I-26 in the Tri-Cities, with two cars on one truck, the 2-4 day window told straight, and ridge streets met below.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges door-to-door vehicle transport for Johnson City, the Tri-Cities town in the far northeast corner of Tennessee where I-26 comes down from Kingsport on its way to the North Carolina mountains, East Tennessee State University and its medical school take up the west side, the veterans hospital keeps the old Mountain Home grounds, neighborhoods climb the ridges, and Knoxville is about an hour and a half away by I-81 and I-40. The carrier that comes over the ridges for your car is licensed and insured, and we vet it before the job is assigned.
Carriers between the Northeast and the South run I-81 past the Tri-Cities, and fewer of them turn down I-26 into town, so we give you the pickup window plainly on the first call. Lots on State of Franklin Road near I-26 and on North Roan Street by the interstate let a 75-foot rig load a minute from the ramp. On the city grids the truck comes to the door, a ridge street with a steep drive meets it at the bottom, and a mountain road toward the Carolina line meets it at the interstate, a spot we agree when you book. We move cars for students and medical residents at the university, staff and patients at the veterans hospital, retirees coming up from Florida for the mountain summers, and families relocating from larger cities, and a winter storm in the mountains between December and March can push a pickup back, which we tell you at the start.

Anyone moving a car between the Tri-Cities and the rest of the state can start with our Tennessee car shipping guide, which maps the main interstates, the seasons and how quotes are figured.
Off the hub means 2-4 days to load rather than 1-3, and we say so on the first call rather than after the date slips.
Couples arriving with two cars book both at once, and dispatch puts them on one truck when the space lines up, which keeps it to one hand-off.
Request an estimate by email from the quote calculator, with your route, car and dates, and a specialist calls to confirm the price, whether the car is bound for campus or coming up from Florida. A Johnson City order keeps one coordinator from that figure to the signed delivery inspection.
From Johnson City, Knoxville is about an hour and a half by interstate, and the Carolina and Virginia lines are closer still. These five things shape a quote from here:
Johnson City sits on I-26 in the Tri-Cities corner, a short run from I-81 and well away from the big interstate hubs. All five rows below are distance rows: Charleston, Miami, Kansas City, Las Vegas and Seattle each show what customers paid for moves of similar length in our bookings between September 2025 and August 2026.
Whether the car loads in a ridge-street driveway or at a State of Franklin Road lot, these ranges are for a running sedan on an open trailer. A retiree's SUV, a pickup or a car that will not start costs more, and enclosed transport runs about a third above open. For your own Johnson City number, use the quote calculator or call (866) 821-4555. No deposit is taken until a carrier is assigned to your move.
Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol share the corner of the state, and one market to dispatch.
The campus and the medical school fill the west side every August.
The veterans hospital sits on the old soldiers’ home grounds, with the campus beside it.
North Carolina and Virginia are each half an hour away, and Knoxville is an hour and a half.
Please note: Every figure on the Johnson City table is a distance band. Charleston, Miami, Kansas City, Las Vegas and Seattle stand for what customers paid on trips of comparable length from September 2025 to August 2026, and the number we book for your car and dates is the one a specialist confirms after the emailed estimate.
