Everything You Need to Know About the State of Iowa (IA)
Iowa was admitted to the union as the 29th state on Dec. 28, 1846. As a Midwestern state, Iowa forms a bridge between the forests of the east and the grasslands of the high prairie plains to the west. Its gently rolling landscape rises slowly as it extends westward from the Mississippi River, which forms its entire eastern border. The Missouri River and its tributary, the Big Sioux, form the western border, making Iowa the only U.S. state that has two parallel rivers defining its borders.
Iowa is bounded by the states of Minnesota to the north, Wisconsin, and Illinois to the east, Missouri to the south, and Nebraska and South Dakota to the west. Des Moines, in the south-central part of the state, is the capital. The state name is derived from the Iowa Native Americans and people who once inhabited the area.
The state motto-Our liberties we prize, and our rights we will maintain attributes to its identical phenomenon. Wild Rose is the state flower.
A culture known as the Effigy Moundbuilders inhabited northeastern Iowa between 1400 and 750 B.C. The more than 200 mounds of earth that remain within Effigy Mounds National Monument—several shaped like animals such as bears, birds and bison—were believed to have been used for ceremonial purposes or to track celestial events.
When the Winnebago Indians were forcefully displayed from their homeland in Wisconsin in 1840, the U.S. government offered the tribe protection on their new temporary land in Iowa from other tribes and illegal settlers. Completed in 1842, Fort Atkinson was the only fort built by the United States to protect one Indian tribe from another.
Since 1972, Iowa has kicked off the presidential primary process by holding the nation’s first caucuses. When a largely unknown Jimmy Carter became the frontrunner in the 1976 Democratic caucus, the national attention he received ultimately helped him to win the presidency—and solidified the importance of the Iowa caucuses.
Iowa is the largest producer of corn in the United States. One of the biggest harvesters of bushels.
Factors Influencing Cost of Shipping
Here are the main factors influencing the cost of shipping your vehicles to Iowa;
Transportation Distance
The time frame of delivery
Type and condition of the vehicle
Auto carrier Options
Transportation Distance
A major factor that influences the bulk of the cost of shipping to Iowa is the distance between the vehicle’s origin (pickup) and final destination (Iowa) where it will be delivered. The longer the distance, the higher the shipping fee because more resources such as fuel, time, labor, etc are imputed.
The Time Frame of Delivery
The speed of delivery is another factor considered when shipping your vehicle. The faster you want your vehicle delivered, the more it would cost you. Short notice and emergency delivery draw in additional costs to speed up the delivery process but are cheaper when your delivery preference fits into our schedule.
Type and Condition of the Vehicle
The type and condition of your vehicles such as its weight, dimensions, size, and delicacy also play an important part in the shipping cost. Large and heavy vehicles take more space, use more fuel, and may require transport adjustments to fit into the carrier than compact vehicles which require less of the aforementioned, hence it costs more to ship larger vehicles. The condition and state of a vehicle also influence the total work that would go into handling and moving the vehicle. The more the vehicle needs delicate handling, the more the cost. As Inoperable vehicles require special equipment and specialized personnel to load into the transport medium and offload at the required destination.
Auto Carrier Options
There are two main types of auto carrier services. Auto transport can be open or closed depending on the availability of enclosures within the carrier. The open auto carrier is one in which the vehicle is not shielded by enclosed side walls or a roof protecting the vehicle while the closed auto carrier has both. Open auto transport is cheaper and most budget-friendly but doesn’t give the vehicle protection against dust, weather, etc like that of the closed auto service. We recommend closed auto transport for luxurious and other high-end vehicles to keep them safe.
Other factors influencing the cost of shipping to Iowa are transport seasons (shipping in some seasons lowers the overall price of shipping your vehicle due to favorable weather conditions and as more people use the service) and additional services you might want from us.
Here’s How to Choose an Auto Transport Company to Ship Your Vehicle
Perform Adequate Research
The first thing to do is to create a list of your needs and requirements you want in a shipping company and based on that, search and select a company that offers those services.
Check for Company’s insurance
Learn about insurance policies and everything they cover. Good insurance will cover you if there’s damage to your vehicle while in transit.
Check Authenticity and Customer Reviews
Make sure the company is registered by checking its authenticity on the FMCSA website before going forward with it. To can also check for the ratings and reviews from various customers to give you an overview of the company’s services and quality. Customer reviews are reflections of the company’s competence and credibility, so pay attention to both positive and negative comments. You may also ask people you know about the company’s legitimacy and reliability
Compare Cost
Now, after you’ve considered the above, you’d have gotten a shortlist of shipping companies that meet your needs and requirements. Then you have to get quotes from the different companies and compare their shipping costs to choose one that best suits your pocket. But avoid prices that are too cheap, far lower than the normal price as that can be an indicator of bad service or hidden costs.
Choose the appropriate shipping method
Choose the right type of shipping method to be used for transporting the vehicle. The open vehicle carrier method is pocket friendly but the closed carrier service offers more protection.
Here are Some Preparation Steps for Car Shipping:
Wash and clean every part of your car. A clean car saves you work after the vehicle is delivered.
Once your vehicle is clean, inspect every part starting with the exterior. Walk around the vehicle to inspect and take note of the state of the car, any damage already on the car, and the condition of all its parts. You can also take photographs as proof and for record purposes in case, there is any new damage when it is delivered.
Do all necessary car maintenance so that it can be ready for use when delivered. Check the fluids in the car, battery condition, and tire pressure but empty the gas tank to about 1/6% full. Also, disable the alarm and lock the car.
Remove any removable parts and personal items to protect them from damage and loss during transport
Lastly, inform the driver or relevant authority of any additional information on the vehicle, especially on mechanical problems. So that note is taken on the information and actions are taken to curb any unwarranted problems.

Riding my motorcycle cross-country from Florida, up to Jasper Canada, and down to California put a hurting on my hands. I was looking to cut out the San Francisco section of our trip and have the bike shipped to Carson City NV. I needed the bike there in two weeks; by the end of September. Two major shippers said they could not get the bike there until October. Then I had the good fortune of connecting with Ship a Car Inc. Steve Goodman handled my request and said they could do it.
I was a bit nervous as Steve took a couple of days to arrange transport and call me. But he came through and got the bike transported quicker than I would have expected. Since we were already in San Francisco, I called the shop in Eureka CA where I had left the bike for pick-up. As Steve had said, the bike was transported in an enclosed truck. The shop told me the driver was very professional and took a long time to make sure my bike was loaded and secured properly. I then called the shop in Carson City where the bike was to be delivered. They told me the bike was already there, that the driver had taken great care of my bike, and that he seemed very professional.
This was a very difficult time-frame to deal with. This was not a pre-scheduled transportation issue. It was a last-minute decision on my part. The location of the pick-up shop in Eureka CA was only an every two-week area for the two other shippers I had tried. Steve Goodman and Ship a Car Inc came through. They saved our vacation and I am grateful, extremely grateful for the professionalism displayed. I would use their service again. in a heartbeat.

I first want to say that Ship A Car, Inc. did a fabulous job with shipping my 1977 Mercedes from Los Angeles to Georgia. I shipped the car covered and it arrived with no damage. Sam L. took my order and kept me informed at every step. My only complaint is with the trucking company, Z Trans, who accepted the dispatch. The company came a day later than the scheduled time to pickup the car and didn't call me to tell me they weren't coming. The day before the car was supposed to arrive, I phoned the driver and told him what time I would be at the location. Never heard back from him. He arrived early morning and was rude to my family and threatened to return the car to Los Angeles unless they were paid. The people who run this company speak little English so this adds to the difficulty in keeping in contact. So if Ship-A-Car tells you that Z Trans picked up their dispatch order, ask them to change it. I've informed them of this issue, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I had excellent service through ship a car inc company. I just didn't feel quite comfortable with other companies. Quoted one price then raised the price last minute. There were many "outsiders" calling or texting me for a couple days and that was irritating. I was reluctant since I had no idea if these drivers had insurance or if they were legit or even if it was a scam. I called Ship A Car inc and Quinten Putnam was very knowledgeable, honest, and professional. I would highly recommend Ship A car inc. My car was picked up on time and delivered on time by FHT carrier services (Michael Dominguez driver) The quote was better than other companies I had spoken with and my experience was extremely professional. Thank you Quinten Putnam!!!! Call ship a car inc. And ask for Quinten Putnam.
