Massachusetts to Florida Car Shipping

Our own book since 2023 holds 17 Massachusetts to Florida open-carrier car orders, and the middle half of them ran $900 to $1,150: an Accord, an Impala, a Volvo XC40, two Audi Q5s, a BMW X5 and an X7 all landed inside it. Over 1,300 to 1,500 road miles that is 65 to 80 cents a mile, cheaper per mile than the shorter Florida lanes because the Interstate 95 trucks out of New England fill for the same few Florida towns. Enclosed transport is quoted at about a third more than the open figure; our three enclosed orders on this lane are too few to band.

A few days to find the truck and four to six on the road. Across the 14 car moves we have dispatched on this lane since 2023, the median wait from booking to a named carrier was 3 days, and a quarter of the orders waited 7 days or more; the longest, a Grand Cherokee from South Yarmouth to Naples booked in September, waited six weeks, and a two-car order from Lenox waited three. After loading, the 1,300 to 1,500 miles down Interstate 95, with the New York bypass and other cars coming off in the Carolinas, usually take four to six days. That road figure is an estimate for the distance; our file records when the carrier was assigned, not when it arrived.

Around it, not through it. From the Boston suburbs the truck takes the Mass Pike to Interstate 84 through Hartford or Route 128 to Interstate 95 through Providence, reaches the Connecticut shore, and then leaves Interstate 95 for Interstate 287 and the Tappan Zee, because a car hauler may not use the Hutchinson, the Merritt or any New York parkway and the George Washington Bridge approach is a bad hour for a 75-foot rig. Over the bridge it is the New Jersey Turnpike and Interstate 95 through Baltimore, Richmond and the Carolinas to Jacksonville, then straight on for Stuart, Delray and Fort Lauderdale or across Interstate 4 and Interstate 75 for Port Charlotte and Naples. Western Massachusetts cars from Florence, Sunderland and Lenox come down Interstate 91 to New Haven and join at the shore.

The collectors do: of the 14 car moves we have dispatched from Massachusetts to Florida since 2023, 2 went enclosed, a pair of Mercedes SLs from Plymouth to Stuart on one order and a 1973 Corvette from Florence to Stuart. Everything else, the Q5s, the X7, the Impala, a 330Ci convertible, rode the open deck and arrived. The trailer costs about a third more and earns it for a low car, a classic or fresh paint over five days of interstate; the coordinator quotes the open deck unless the car argues otherwise. Three parts of the state, in roughly equal measure. The western suburbs: Chestnut Hill, Newton Center, Needham, Sharon. The South Shore and Cape: Plymouth, Marshfield, Braintree, South Yarmouth. And the west of the state: Florence and Sunderland in the Pioneer Valley, Lenox in the Berkshires. In Florida, Stuart and Fort Lauderdale are the most common deliveries, then Naples, with Miami, Port Charlotte, Delray Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Aventura and Boca Raton behind them. A suburban driveway takes the truck; a Cape rotary or a Gold Coast gate means the plaza outside it, agreed by phone the evening before.

August has been our busiest booking month on this lane since 2023, with September behind it; five of the fourteen moves in the file were booked in a single August. It is earlier than the October rush from New Jersey, and the reason is Boston: the September lease turnover, the college calendar and the end of the Cape season all push a Massachusetts household to send the car before Labor Day rather than after Columbus Day. The three-day median wait held through it. A booking made in July with a three to five day window rides August comfortably.
