Florida to Massachusetts Car Shipping

Our own book since 2023 holds 20 Florida to Massachusetts open-carrier car orders, and the middle half of them ran $1,200 to $1,400: a Kia K5, an Audi Q5, a Volvo XC40, a Tesla Model 3, a Lexus NX and a BMW M8 all landed inside it. Over 1,400 to 1,500 road miles that is 85 to 95 cents a mile, a step above the southbound direction because the spring return concentrates the demand into April. A Tesla Model Y, an X7 and an Impala booked in the spring sat above the band; an Accord booked in February sat below it. Enclosed is quoted at about a third more than the open figure; our three enclosed orders on this lane cannot make a band.

A week to find the truck as a rule, longer in April, and four to six days on the road. Across the 17 car moves we have dispatched on this lane since 2023, the median wait from booking to a named carrier was 7 days, and a quarter of the orders waited 20 days or more. The long ones were April orders: a Volvo from Fort Lauderdale waited four weeks, an X7 from Sunny Isles Beach four and a half, an Equinox from Venice booked in March six, and one Lexus from Bradenton to Chatham waited ten weeks, so long that it falls outside the 45-day window our wait figures use. After loading, the 1,450 miles up Interstate 95 with the New York bypass usually take four to six days. The road figure is an estimate; our file records the assignment, not the arrival.

Interstate 95 from the Gold Coast, the whole way: Jacksonville, Savannah, Florence, Richmond, the Capital Beltway, Baltimore, the Delaware Memorial Bridge and the New Jersey Turnpike, then Interstate 287 and the Tappan Zee around New York, because a car hauler may not use the parkways. Gulf-side cars from Naples, Venice and Bradenton cross first on Alligator Alley or Interstate 4. In Connecticut the road splits three ways: Interstate 95 on through New Haven and Providence for Marshfield, Scituate and the Cape; Interstate 84 to the Mass Pike for Needham, Newton and Chestnut Hill; Interstate 91 up the river for Longmeadow, Sunderland and, by the Pike, Lenox. Danvers, Malden and the North Shore are reached through Boston on Interstate 93 or around it on Route 128.

For two cars in the file it was: of the 17 car moves we have dispatched from Florida to Massachusetts since 2023, 2 went enclosed, a Lucid Air from Pompano Beach to Danvers and a Jaguar XK that shared a trailer with a Mazda from Boca Raton to Danvers. The other fifteen, a Tesla Model 3 and a Model Y, an M8, a 1976 Porsche 914, a Q5 and a Carnival among them, went open and arrived. The trailer costs about a third more and is the right answer for a low car, a classic or fresh paint; a commuter rides the open deck. Fort Lauderdale is our most frequent pickup, then Sunny Isles Beach, Naples and Boca Raton, with Pompano Beach, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Loxahatchee, Jacksonville, Clermont, Venice and Bradenton behind them. In Massachusetts the deliveries are spread across the state: Danvers, Needham and Marshfield twice each, then Newton, Newton Center, Chestnut Hill, Cambridge, Malden, North Billerica, Sunderland, Longmeadow, Lenox, Chatham and Scituate. A suburban driveway takes the truck; Cambridge and the city mean a lot off Interstate 93 or Route 128; Chatham means meeting the driver on the mainland side of the Sagamore.

April, more sharply than on any other lane we publish: eight of the seventeen moves in our file were booked in April, six of them in the same one, with June the only other month above one. It is the Broward and Collier winter household going home to the Boston suburbs before Patriots’ Day, and it is where nearly every long wait on this page lives. If your dates fall between late March and early May, book a month ahead and give the driver a window; from June to February the same request is a week’s work.
