Door-to-door Lakewood, WA car shipping worked backward from the JBLM report date, with hand-offs outside the Madigan or main gate and Towne Center lots off I-5.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges door-to-door vehicle transport for Lakewood, the South Sound city that borders Joint Base Lewis-McChord, where I-5 runs the length of town past the base gates, American Lake fills the west side, Fort Steilacoom Park carries the name of the 1849 Army post, and the Oakbrook and Lakewold neighborhoods sit under the firs. Whether the car leaves from a gate-side lot or a driveway off Bridgeport Way, the carrier is licensed, insured and vetted by us before we assign it.
Report dates drive the planning on military moves here: soldiers, airmen and families coming to Joint Base Lewis-McChord from Fort Hood, Fort Bragg or another post want the car to arrive the week they do. I-5 exits at Bridgeport Way and Gravelly Lake Drive put a 75-foot rig on the Lakewood Towne Center lots within a minute, and the neighborhoods off Bridgeport Way and Steilacoom Boulevard have driveways that take the truck. Carriers do not enter the base, so on-base housing meets the truck at a lot outside the Madigan or main gate, and the narrow lakefront lanes on American Lake and Gravelly Lake meet it the same way, agreed at booking.

For moves that reach beyond the South Sound, the Washington car shipping guide covers statewide routes, seasons and the rest of the state’s cities.
PCS moves get a pickup window worked backward from the report date, with a gate-side hand-off at Towne Center agreed at booking.
Carriers running I-5 between Seattle and Portland pass the city’s exits, so a car here can load on a trip that is already underway.
Enter your route, vehicle and dates in the quote calculator, and a specialist calls to confirm the estimate it emails you. One coordinator then handles the order from booking to the delivery inspection, so a PCS move never gets passed between desks.
I-5 runs the length of the city past the JBLM gates, with American Lake to the west and Towne Center off Bridgeport Way. Five things set the price:
Lakewood figures start from an off-base driveway or a lot outside the JBLM gates. San Diego is our own lane, the middle half of our Washington to California open-carrier orders since 2023, so it prices a car leaving the state. Colorado Springs, Norfolk, Houston and Washington, DC are distance bands: what customers paid for open-carrier moves of similar length in our bookings between September 2025 and August 2026.
Treat these as sedan prices on an open trailer. A lifted truck, a full-size pickup or a car that does not run costs more, and enclosed transport adds about a third. For your own Lakewood figure, use the quote calculator or call (866) 821-4555. No deposit is taken until a carrier is assigned to your move.
Joint Base Lewis-McChord borders the city line.
The park keeps the name of the Army post founded nearby in 1849.
The city’s biggest lake hosts float planes and regattas.
The estate garden is a South Sound treasure.
Please note: San Diego is the one row priced from our own lane, Washington to California open-carrier orders since 2023, in that southbound direction. Colorado Springs, Norfolk, Houston and Washington, DC rest on comparable distances booked from September 2025 to August 2026. A summer report date, fuel or the vehicle can move a Lakewood quote, and what we book is the figure a specialist confirms after the emailed estimate.
