How to Ship a Portable Restroom
A portable restroom is light and awkward rather than heavy and difficult, and the number that decides the job is how many you are moving. A single standard unit is roughly 90 inches tall, 44 inches square and 150 to 200 pounds empty, which any flatbed or box truck handles. Twenty of them is a different conversation about deck space and stacking. Say the count first, because it changes the equipment more than anything else about the load.

Pump It Out First
This is not optional and it is the thing that gets moves refused.
The waste tank must be pumped and the unit rinsed before it travels. A used unit that has not been serviced is a spill risk, a contamination risk to the trailer and anything else on it, and a health matter for whoever handles it at the other end. Carriers will decline it.
Deodorizer charge and any fresh water in a flush model should be drained too. Beyond the hygiene, liquid in the tank is weight that moves, and a unit that is top heavy already does not need help.
They Tip Over Easily
The whole difficulty of these units is the shape: about seven and a half feet tall on a footprint under four feet square, and largely empty.
That makes them very easy to tip and very susceptible to wind, both on the trailer and while being handled. They have to be secured upright and strapped to the deck, not merely leaned against something, and the straps need to go around the unit rather than pulling on the door or the vent stack.
Padding matters more than the material suggests. Polyethylene panels crack at the corners under a tight strap, so use corner protection or wide webbing rather than a narrow ratchet strap pulled down hard.

Moving Several
Volume changes the method entirely, and there are two normal approaches.
Units can be nested, since most designs are shaped to allow one to sit partly inside another, which reduces the footprint considerably and is how rental companies move fleets. Or they travel upright side by side, which is simpler to load and unload but uses far more deck.
A standard 48 or 53 foot flatbed carries a substantial number either way. Give the count and whether the units nest, and say whether they are all the same model, because mixed models often do not nest with each other.
Secure the Doors and the Fittings
Everything that can move will.
Latch and tape the door, since a door that swings open at highway speed usually tears off its hinge. Secure or remove the toilet paper holders, the hand sanitizer dispenser, any interior fittings and the vent stack cap. On an ADA or wheelchair accessible unit, check the ramp and any hardware specifically.
If the unit has a separate holding tank or a sink module, confirm whether it detaches, because that changes both the dimensions and the count.
New Units and Used Units Are Different Jobs
Where the units are coming from changes the preparation almost entirely.
New units leaving a manufacturer or a dealer arrive clean, empty and usually nested, sometimes shrink wrapped in stacks. That is the easy case: they load quickly, they travel densely, and there is nothing to service first.
Used units being redeployed between markets, returned at the end of a season, or moved after an event are the harder case. Every one needs pumping and rinsing before it moves, and the condition varies across the fleet, so the count you were given and the count that is actually serviceable are not always the same. Equipment and Access
These units are light enough to be moved by two people or a forklift, which means loading is usually straightforward.
A flatbed with straps is the normal answer, and a box truck or an enclosed trailer works for smaller counts and protects the units from road grit. What matters more is access at each end: a construction site, a festival ground or an event field is often soft, uneven or gated, and a 53 foot flatbed cannot always get to where the units need to be.
