Everything You Need to Know About the State of Louisiana (LA)
The state of Louisiana pillars above the Gulf of Mexico just at the front of the Mississippi River, having boundaries with Arkansas to the North, Mississippi to the East, and Texas to the West. Originally colonized by the French during the 18th century, it became U.S. territory as part of the legendary Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Louisiana was granted statehood in 1812. Louisiana’s capital city is Baton Rouge. Additionally, it is the home to the historic port city New Orleans, which is famous for its unique cuisine, jazz, and spectacular Mardi Gras festival.
Louisiana is nicknamed Sportsman’s Paradise. It stands with the state motto-Union, Justice, Confidence.
In 1803, Thomas Jefferson doubled the size of the United States by purchasing the Louisiana Territory—828,000 square miles of land between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains—from France.
Due to slow communications and transportations, the Battle of New Orleans was fought two weeks after the Treaty of Ghent was signed on December 24, 1814, ending the War of 1812 between the United States and Great Britain.
With 34 storey height, the Louisiana State Capitol is the tallest among the peer buildings.
Louisiana is the abode to a widely diversified culture and races. Two prominent ethnic groups are Cajuns, descendants of a French-speaking group of Acadians from Canada, and Creoles, people with a mixed French, Spanish, Caribbean, African and/or Indian background.
Hurricane Katrina made landfall in southeastern Louisiana on August 29, 2005, as a Category-3 storm. The most blasting natural catastrophe in U.S. history that unfolded more than 1,800 deaths—over 1,500 of which were in Louisiana.
Louisiana Vehicle Shipping
Factors that determine the cost of shipping
Type/Size of Vehicle
There are regulations on how much weight a car carrier and other transportation trucks can carry. Hence vehicles and cargo that weigh more have higher shipping costs.
Vehicle Condition
Vehicles in non-functional items will need to be winched onto the carrier or even towed to the pickup shipping location, incurring more costs.
Location
Locations frequently visited by carriers and/or nearby major highways have a tendency to to cost lower than less frequented areas.
Timing
If you are on a budget it is advisable to ship your car during the off peak season. Inclement weather may change the total transportation time; however, it does not necessarily alter the total shipping price. During the peak shipping seasons, vehicle transport is on the pricier side and if you’re on a budget, please give your transport broker ample time to find you a carrier at your target price point.
Shipping Method
There are two ways a shipping company can ship your vehicle: the open car method and the enclosed car method.
The open-car method involves transporting vehicles in a way that leaves them exposed to external weather. The open-car method is cheaper but risks your car being damaged by extreme weather conditions.
As the name depicts, the enclosed car method transports vehicles in an enclosed carrier, making it protected from harsh weather conditions. This method costs more than the open-car method.

Louisiana offers little in the way of mountainous operations and stiff grades, as the state is almost entirely flat. While this might be a bit visually boring from a railfan perspective, the Pelican State is an essential source of both originating and terminating traffic, with the Port of New Orleans and the lucrative petrochemical industry located there. Because of this, several classic lines tapped into the state, notably wishing to reach New Orleans as it was a vital interchange point and originator of traffic (both passenger and freight). To this date, Louisiana is still served by several Class I railroads (six of the seven) and several short lines allowing for an interesting mix of operations.
There are many hyphenated highways numbered within the Louisiana state highway system. Generally very short in length, these routes are signed with the format of LA XXXX-X.
In Louisiana, the Intracoastal Waterway is an essential means of transporting commercial goods such as petroleum and petroleum products, agricultural yields, construction materials, and manufactured goods.

I must apologize for not writing sooner, but our move has extremely long and our household just arrived (computers as well). I can't say enough good things about the excellent service we received! Your communications with us, answering all my questions and keeping me calm all the way through the process were priceless. Our driver "Ihar" was fabulous! He made contact with us and came through as promised on arrival time. He took his time (being a true professional) to make sure that both cars were hooked up nice and tight to ensure no damage would come to them. He took photos of the cars and was very professional and kept in touch with us on his arrival. He was so quick getting our cars to their destination, that he beat us there. He did not complain about having to wait 3 hours, while our plane landed and we made our way over to meet him. The cars were in the same condition as when they left. We were very, very happy with his service! We will definitely refer "Shipacarinc" to anyone who asked us about shipping a car!

Company was very professional and got our car to its destination in a very timely manner. Communication could be a little tighter but overall a good company to work with.

I shipped a brand new $15,000 Yamaha Viking UTV from Montana to Oregon. Even though the driver did not have the title, it would have been easy to sell this for $5000 to a ranch along the way and I would never see it. I did a lot of research on Ship A Car, Inc. before deciding to use them, and my UTV arrived safely and my wife is HAPPY! Not only did they give me the best price, but they shipped it in an enclosed trailer. I would definitely use them again.

I've been dealing with Danny at Ship A Car INC for years. They transported some vehicles for me just this last week. I buy a lot of vehicles. So I do business with him all the time. I'm totally satisfied. They're a licensed broker who uses several means of transportation, such as a truck and trailer. They've been working fine for me so far. And they're reliable. So I will keep using them. If someone were interested in moving a lot of vehicles, give Danny a call. And I'm good with scheduling. Danny makes it easy. And he's professional and friendly. Danny and I are like friends! I would recommend Ship A Car INC to family and friends. Actually, I already have. I've stirred up a lot of business for them.
