Door-to-door Homewood car shipping over Red Mountain, with July residency and campus timing and a Wildwood hand-off at the I-65 Lakeshore exit.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges door-to-door vehicle transport for Homewood, the first suburb over Red Mountain from Birmingham, where I-65 runs along the west side, Lakeshore Drive crosses the south, US-31 carries Montgomery Highway through the middle, the university sits on the hill above the parkway, the hospital anchors the east side, the walkable downtown along 18th Street fills on weekends, and the bungalows of Edgewood and the colonials of Mayfair share the hilly streets. From an Edgewood bungalow to a Mayfair colonial, your car leaves with a licensed, insured carrier that we vetted before the assignment.
Homewood meets I-65 at the Lakeshore Drive exit, and the Wildwood lots beside that ramp give a full 75-foot car hauler room to pull in, load, and get back on the interstate. Edgewood, Mayfair, and Hollywood are another matter, with narrow, hilly streets under the trees and parked cars along the curbs, so a pickup in those neighborhoods is set for Wildwood when you book. On the wider streets of West Homewood, a driveway with a straight approach can sometimes bring the truck to the door. We move cars for medical residents starting in July, for students coming to or leaving the campus on the hill, and for families sending a car to a college town or a Florida winter house.

Our Alabama car shipping guide picks up where this page leaves off, with statewide routes, seasonal timing, and pricing for moves that reach well beyond Red Mountain.
The hand-off is a minute off I-65 at Lakeshore, fixed when you book and five minutes from any street in the city.
Residency starts and university move-in get set three weeks out, worked backward from the first day.
Run the route, the vehicle and your dates through the quote calculator for an estimate by email, then a specialist’s call to confirm the price, for a Wildwood hand-off or a pickup on your own street. Whoever takes that first Homewood call stays with the order through the delivery inspection.
Homewood is the first suburb over Red Mountain from Birmingham, with I-65 along its west side and the Wildwood lots beside the Lakeshore Drive exit. Five things move your number:
Homewood sits just over Red Mountain from downtown Birmingham, and since Edgewood, Mayfair and Hollywood have narrow, hilly streets, the truck usually meets you at Wildwood, beside the Lakeshore exit on I-65. Orlando, San Antonio, Chicago, Colorado Springs and Los Angeles are distance rows, based on what customers paid for moves of similar length in our bookings between September 2025 and August 2026.
Take these ranges as a sedan on an open trailer. Expect to pay more for an SUV, a pickup or a car that does not run, and about a third more for an enclosed trailer. For your exact Homewood trip, use the quote calculator or call (866) 821-4555. No deposit is taken until a carrier is assigned to your move.
The first suburb south of Red Mountain, and the closest to downtown.
Shops and restaurants line the downtown blocks, close enough to walk between.
The university on the hill above Lakeshore brings students every August.
The iron statue on the ridge faces the city; his backside faces Homewood.
Please note: On the Homewood table, Orlando, San Antonio, Chicago, Colorado Springs and Los Angeles are distance bands, drawn from what customers paid for trips of similar length from September 2025 to August 2026. Residency and semester start dates, fuel and the vehicle can move the real number, and what we book is the price a specialist confirms on the call after your emailed estimate.
