Seasonal demand pushes rates up on southbound lanes in fall, so flexible dates and early booking are worth real money. Shipping against the flow usually gets faster pickups and friendlier rates.

Not the car; vehicles ride on open trailers through worse. Heat affects people and schedules: drivers load early, deliveries skew to mornings, and a battery that was already weak sometimes gives up after a hot transit. If the car will sit before you arrive, ask us about arrangements that keep it out of an uncovered lot for weeks.

Ship it as close to empty as you can. Carrier cargo insurance covers the vehicle only, never the contents, and a visibly loaded car draws attention at overnight stops along I-10. Snowbirds moving a season of belongings should send them with household goods; a single soft bag under about 100 pounds in the trunk is the usual carrier tolerance.

Open is the standard and what most Arizona customers choose. Enclosed typically adds a third or more and earns it for collector cars and anything with paint you would rather not explain to a detailer after a dust storm on I-10. Clear the cabin and trunk before the driver arrives. Golf clubs, patio cushions, and boxes bound for the winter house are the usual Arizona temptations, and none of them are covered by carrier cargo insurance, which protects the vehicle only. A light bag of soft goods in the trunk is sometimes fine, but ask your coordinator before you pack it.

About a quarter tank is the right amount for an Arizona pickup: enough to load, unload, and reach a gas station in the Valley or on the way to Tucson, without hauling extra weight across the desert. Fuel is heavy, and carriers watch their axle weights at every scale.
