Ship it as close to empty as you can. Carrier cargo insurance covers the vehicle only, never the contents, and a visibly loaded car draws attention at overnight stops along I-10. Gated retirement communities such as Sun City and Green Valley often hand off at a wide lot outside the gate.

Clear the cabin and trunk before the driver arrives. Golf clubs, patio cushions, and boxes bound for the winter house are the usual Arizona temptations, and none of them are covered by carrier cargo insurance, which protects the vehicle only. A light bag of soft goods in the trunk is sometimes fine, but ask your coordinator before you pack it.

Desert sun washes out photos, so shoot the car early in the morning or in shade after a wash, covering every panel, the wheels, the glass, and the roof. Dust hides fine scratches; a clean surface shows the truth. Those time-stamped pictures are your baseline for the delivery inspection in Phoenix, Tucson, or wherever the trip ends.
