Door-to-door Custer car shipping with the forty-mile US-16 leg from I-90 priced up front, cabin drives kept off the plan, and a Rapid City hand-off option.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges door-to-door vehicle transport for Custer, the first town in the Black Hills, where US-16 and US-385 cross on Mount Rushmore Road, Custer State Park and its bison begin at the east edge of town, the Crazy Horse carving grows a blast at a time to the north, and Jewel Cave runs under the pines to the west. Out of the pines or into them, the car rides with a licensed, insured carrier that we vet before it is ever assigned your order.
Custer sits roughly an hour of Black Hills highway from I-90, so a carrier comes in on US-16 through Hill City as a planned leg, and we build that leg into the quote and the window from the start. In town, Mount Rushmore Road is wide and its lots have room for a 75-foot rig, so that is where hand-offs happen. Cabin drives in the pines, the gravel roads toward the park and the summer crowds on US-16A are no place for a loaded trailer, and if you can make the drive, meeting the truck in Rapid City can cost less. We handle moves for retirees settling in the southern Hills, seasonal workers at the park and the monuments, and families shipping a car out for a new job or a school year.

For the routes and seasons beyond the southern Hills, our South Dakota car shipping guide covers the whole state, prices included.
The forty miles from I-90 through Hill City are in the quote and the window from the first call, with a Rapid City hand-off shown as the alternative.
Pine-country gravel drives and park-edge roads get a meeting point on Mount Rushmore Road, fixed when you book.
Your Custer estimate comes by email from the quote calculator with the Hills leg already in it, and a specialist calls to confirm the number for your route, vehicle and dates. One coordinator follows the move through to the inspection at delivery.
Custer is about an hour from I-90, where US-16 and US-385 run together through the southern Hills. Five things set your price:
Custer's five rows are distance bands, with the drive in from I-90 left to your own quote. In our bookings between September 2025 and August 2026, the middle half of what customers paid for open-carrier moves of similar length gives the bands for Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Houston and Nashville.
Every figure assumes a sedan on an open trailer, cabin car or town car alike. A pickup or SUV built for the Hills roads costs more, as does a car that will not run, and enclosed transport is about a third higher. For a Custer address, the quote calculator sends an estimate by email, and a call to (866) 821-4555 reaches a coordinator who can quote it. No deposit is taken until a carrier is assigned to your move.
The 1875 gold camp became the Hills’ first town.
Custer State Park’s bison herd roams next door.
The mountain carving grows a blast at a time.
US-16 through Hill City is the carrier’s road in and out.
Please note: The Custer rows for Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Houston and Nashville come from what customers paid for open-carrier trips of comparable distance from September 2025 to August 2026. Park season, fuel and the vehicle move the final price, and the calculator’s quote for your address counts the leg off I-90.
