Door-to-door Cambridge car shipping planned around permit-parked streets and truck-free Memorial Drive, with Assembly and Alewife hand-offs and semester timing.
Ship A Car, Inc. arranges door-to-door vehicle transport for Cambridge, the city across the Charles from Boston where Harvard fills the square that bears its name, MIT and the Kendall Square labs fill the riverfront, Massachusetts Avenue runs the length of the city from the bridge to Arlington, Memorial Drive follows the river, Route 2 arrives at Alewife, and the streets in between were laid out for horses and hold two-families, triple-deckers, and permit parking on both sides. Whoever hauls your car holds a license and insurance, and we vet that carrier before the move is handed over.
Narrow streets, permit parking and truck rules decide how a pickup works in this city. Memorial Drive along the river is closed to trucks and campus roads are off limits to a hauler, so the driver meets you at a lot off I-93 at Assembly in Somerville or off Route 2 at Alewife, a short drive from any address and agreed when you book. Both meeting points sit beside the highway the carrier is already on. We ship cars for students at the start of the semester, for postdocs and biotech staff arriving from the West Coast, and for faculty leaving for a year abroad.

Our guide to shipping a car in Massachusetts walks through the statewide picture: the main routes, the seasons and what moves cost.
We tell you on the first call that the truck meets you at Assembly or Alewife, and fix the lot when you book.
Late-August pickups and postdoc arrivals get set three weeks out, worked backward from the first day on campus.
The quote calculator takes the route, the car and your dates and emails a Cambridge estimate, then a specialist calls with the final price. Your coordinator is the same person from that first call to the inspection at Assembly or Alewife.
Mass Ave runs the length of Cambridge, with I-93 at Assembly on one side and Route 2 at Alewife on the other. Five factors shape the price:
Narrow streets keep the hauler out of the neighborhoods, so Cambridge cars load at Assembly in Somerville or at Alewife. Jacksonville and Orlando are our own lanes and run one way apiece: the Jacksonville row is the middle half of our Massachusetts to Florida open-carrier orders since 2023, and the Orlando row the middle half of those running from Florida to Massachusetts. Norfolk, Austin and San Francisco come from what customers paid for comparable distances in our bookings between September 2025 and August 2026.
Sedans on open trailers are what these ranges price. Size and condition raise the price, since an SUV or pickup takes more room and a car that will not run needs a winch, and enclosed transport adds about a third. Get your own Cambridge figure from the quote calculator or from a coordinator at (866) 821-4555. No deposit is taken until a carrier is assigned to your move.
Harvard and MIT sit two miles apart on the same avenue.
The densest cluster of biotech labs in the world fills the old industrial blocks.
The river road is a state parkway, closed to trucks and to cars on summer Sundays.
Nearly every residential street is resident-only, both sides.
Please note: Jacksonville is a southbound figure and Orlando a northbound one, each from our own open-carrier orders in that direction since 2023. For Norfolk, Austin and San Francisco the table uses what customers paid for moves of comparable length from September 2025 to August 2026. Your Cambridge quote will reflect the dates, the fuel market and the car, and a specialist confirms it by phone before we book.
