Everything You Need to Know About the State of Idaho (ID)

With an abundance of scenic mountains, lakes, rivers, and outdoor attractions, the state draws more than 20 million tourists each year. Idaho produces more potatoes and trout than any other state in the nation and is known as the “Gem State” for the 72 types of precious and semi-precious stones it produces—some of which are exclusive to the state. Its state capital, Boise, is also its largest city with more than 200,000 residents. Idaho gained its statehood on July 3, 1890.

Bordered by the Canadian province of British Columbia to the north and the U.S. states of Montana and Wyoming to the east, Utah, and Nevada to the south, and Oregon and Washington to the west, Idaho is twice as large as the six New England states combined.

The state flower is Syringa and the Mountain Bluebird is reckoned as the state bird. Esto Perpetua (“Let it be perpetual”)’- is the state motto.

Meriwether Lewis and members of the Corps of Discovery entered Idaho for the first time in 1805, making it the last of the U.S. states to be explored by European-Americans. Along with a reconnaissance team, William Clark attempted to find a passage across the Salmon River in August but was deterred by the churning rapids and steep rock walls. The river is often referred to as “The River of No Return.”
The state seal of Idaho is the only state seal in the United States designed by a woman. In 1891, Emma Edwards Green, who had previously attended art school in New York, entered and won a competition sponsored by the First Legislature for the State of Idaho with her depiction of a miner, a woman signifying justice and various state natural resources
Carved by the Snake River, Hell’s Canyon is North America’s deepest river gorge—even deeper than the Grand Canyon—with a width of ten miles and a depth of 7,913 feet below. He Devil Peak in the Seven Devils Mountains.
Author Ernest Hemingway, who won a Pulitzer Prize for The Old Man in the Sea in 1953 and who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature the following year, died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound in his home in Ketchum on July 2, 1961. A memorial, exhibit, and festival held near Sun Valley pay tribute to the renowned author’s accomplishments and time spent in Idaho.
Shipping Vehicles to Idaho

Idaho is a state known for its mountainous landscapes and a vast swath of protected wilderness and outdoor recreational areas. The state has a natural beauty and amazing wildlife and wide open space which makes it one of the most beautiful places in the world to live. Idaho is a place to go if you are searching for somewhere with beautiful scenery, a strong economy, low crime rates, friendly people and so many other features. Home ownership is much easier in Idaho than in other states.

People move to Idaho for several reasons and as exciting and refreshing as it sounds, transporting vehicles is not an easy task. SAC is here to make the process easy, convenient, and cost effective.

How Much Will it Cost to Ship Your Vehicle to Idaho?

The main factors that influence the cost of shipping your vehicle to Idaho are:

  • Distance
  • Type of vehicle
  • Type of auto carrier used
  • Condition of the vehicle
Distance

The cost of shipping a car or any other vehicle is not fixed. Distance is a major factor. It would cost more to transport a vehicle through a farther distance than it would if it was a shorter distance. For freight carriers, their time translates to money so longer distance equals more money. However, the cost per mile can be reduced for longer distances.

Type of Vehicle

It would be cheaper to transport a sedan than a truck. There are two major reasons for this. The weight of the vehicle affects the fuel consumption of the carrier. Heavier vehicles typically cost more to transport. Large cars take up more space in the carrier and reduce the number of vehicles that can be transported at once.

Type of Auto Carrier Used

If you are relocating a luxurious or classic car, the enclosed auto carrier is the recommended option for you. Even though it is more expensive than an open-air carrier, it provides additional security to your prized possession as the car is completely covered. Enclosed auto carriers have a drastically lower risk of exposure to the dangers of bad weather. Vehicles transported with enclosed carriers arrive earlier than those transported with open-air carriers as drivers do not have to make as many detours to unload other vehicles.

Condition of Vehicle

An operable vehicle can easily be loaded onto the carrier while an inoperable vehicle requires special equipment. It would cost more to ship an inoperable vehicle. It is important to notify your shipping company before transport that a vehicle isn’t running.

Here are a Few Things You Should Know Before Choosing a Freight Shipping Company
Reading reviews is not a waste of your time

Before shipping your vehicle it is important to use a company you trust as you are risking thousands of dollars. You can ask friends and families for recommendations. Online reviews are really helpful to track the success rate of auto companies.

Do not base your decision on price alone

When it comes to shipping, the cheaper option isn’t always the better or safer option. It is a good idea to always research the overall character of the company to make an informed decision.

Be conscious of the insurance policy

A legitimate shipping company has provisions for insurance in the event of damage to your car. Accidents might occur during shipping which could damage your car, having insurance coverage helps you cater for such events.

Flexible delivering schedule

Most auto shipping companies have a specific window of time for pickup and delivery. Strict scheduling might increase the cost of shipping your vehicle. Emergency shipping tends to attract higher shipping quotes, and having a flexible delivery schedule can be a great way of reducing the cost of shipping

How to Prepare Your Vehicle for Shipping

Here are a few steps to help you prepare for shipping;

  • Wash the exterior of your vehicle. Try as much as possible to make your car spotless because dirt can hide marks.
  • Inspect the exterior of your vehicle. Look for dents, scratches, or discolorations around your vehicle. Even existing damage should be noted.
  • Take pictures of the existing damage for records. In addition to noting the damage, it is also advisable to take photographs of the scratch, dents, paint chips, and any other damage. This serves as a form of proof any other damage is observed after shipping. Take the pictures from several angles and make sure the quality of the images is good.
  • Carry out essential vehicle maintenance. Make sure you check all fluid in the vehicle as well as the tire pressure. The battery should be fully charged. Do not fill up your tank but there should be enough fuel to drive it onto a truck if it is operable.
  • Remove all personal items. Clear your vehicle of any personal items such as your GPS or car charger. Doing this reduces the chances of theft, damage, or loss.
  • Inform the driver of any additional information. Make notes that inform the driver of any mechanical problem. Although the vehicle will be driven minimally, these notes will be helpful when driving the vehicle on and off a carrier.

Idaho is among the few states in the nation without a major freeway linking its two largest metropolitan areas, Boise in the south and Coeur d’Alene in the north. US-95 links the two ends of the state, but like many other highways in Idaho, it is badly in need of repair and upgrade. In 2007, the Idaho Transportation Department stated the state’s highway infrastructure faces a $200 million per year shortfall in maintenance and upgrades. I-84 is the main highway linking the southeast and southwest portions of the state, along with I-86 and I-15. Major federal aid highways in Idaho:

Bob Moran really helped me out and made sure everything went smoothly. He added a very nice personal touch and called up to check in if I had any questions or concerns about where my car was or how much I could put in my car. There prices are great compared to other companies and the service is outstanding.

The customer service lady I had, Nicole Wilson, was very helpful and made sure everything was set up right. She called and made sure it was all ready to go so that the car carrier driver could pick my car up and everything. She also called me back to make sure it was delivered like it was supposed to in proper time. That was pretty cool. It was a great experience. The customer service I had was excellent. She made sure everything went like it was supposed to kept me informed of what was going on throughout the process until I got my car. I didn't have to worry about it a whole lot.

I booked vehicle transport with Ship A car Inc, twice in the past month. The first, the seller cancelled the sale the day that the hauler was scheduled for pick up. YIKES! Contacted Lisa from Ship A Car and she handled everything. I found another BMW K75 for sale, bought it..., and the first call that I made was to Lisa from Ship A Car. Once again, Lisa and Ship A Car Inc. handled everything exceptionally well. Vehicle pick-up and delivery by a company specializing in motorcycle transport. The vehicle arrived earlier than expected (2 days instead of 4) and in perfect condition. Lisa was great at communicating via email and phone (even for a customer that doesn't have an umbilical to his phone.) Would use them again..., in a second!

I called up Ship A Car and they were very courteous on the phone. They were understanding that at my age, I'm not quick on the computer and on a whole bunch of things. But I knew what I wanted. They said they would find somebody. They said, "Give us a day." They came back and gave me a basic price. Then they came back and said, "We found somebody who will do it for $50 less. It's enclosed. Everything is perfect. We've had a lot of good feedback with them." So I gave them my credit card and they took their money. I also paid for the extra insurance because it was a specialty car.   Ship A Car reduced the amount that they would get in their pocket by $50 when carrier number one could not pick up the car timely and they had to go to carrier number two, which was the fellow I ended up with. It was perfect. The guys were personable and it was a nice experience. The only thing was that I didn't know when the driver was going to show up. They said, "We'll pick it up Friday or Tuesday or Wednesday or whatever." They couldn't give me a time. So the gentleman called me and said that they were stuck at the car dealership so instead of getting here at 10 in the morning, they were going to arrive at 2:00 or 3:00. He kept me posted along the way telling me when he was going to arrive. So it was a pleasant experience. When the driver pulled up, he had a Porsche in there, which he pulled out and then put my car in the middle because of the way it was going to be dropped off at the other location. They strapped it all down. He took pictures before it left. Then it was in Nebraska from Long Island in a couple of days. They said it could take anywhere from four to six days, but it only took two and a half days. I was very pleased. My son looked at the car when it arrived and it arrived just the way it left.
