New Jersey to Florida Car Shipping

On an open carrier, our own book since 2023 holds 24 New Jersey to Florida open-carrier car orders and the middle half of them ran $800 to $1,100. In a trailer, it holds 8 New Jersey to Florida enclosed car orders and the middle half of those ran $1,200 to $1,500. Across 1,100 to 1,250 road miles the open figure is well under a dollar a mile, one of the better rates on the East Coast because so many trucks run this exact road. An Expedition or a Wagoneer prices at the upper edge of the open band; a compact crossover at the lower.

Faster to find a truck than almost any lane we run, then a few days on the road. Across the moves we have dispatched since 2023 the median wait from booking to a named carrier was 2 days, with a quarter of orders waiting 12 days or more, nearly all of them October pickups tied to a single date. Once loaded, the 1,100 to 1,250 miles down Interstate 95, with other cars coming on and off, usually take three to five days from a New Jersey driveway to a Florida one. That road figure is a distance estimate; our file records when the carrier was assigned, not how long it drove.

The Turnpike to the Delaware Memorial Bridge, then Interstate 95 the entire way: Baltimore, the Capital Beltway, Richmond, Fayetteville, Florence, Savannah and Jacksonville. Shore pickups feed in by the Garden State Parkway; South Jersey pickups join at the bridge. Inside Florida the truck stays on Interstate 95 or the Turnpike for Stuart, Boynton Beach, Delray and Fort Lauderdale, or leaves at Interstate 4 for Orlando and Interstate 75 for the Gulf side; Gainesville is a short detour off Interstate 75 in the north.

Common enough to publish a band for it: of the 25 New Jersey to Florida moves we have dispatched since 2023, 9 went enclosed. The pattern is the winter home, where the car is often the good one and the owner would rather it did not spend three days on an open deck in November. The enclosed figure above is what that has actually cost from New Jersey. A Versa or a Jetta going to a student in Gainesville does not need it, and the coordinator will say so before you pay the difference.

Newark is our most frequent pickup, with the rest spread across the state: Oakland and Totowa in the north, Hillsborough and Monroe Township in the middle, Rumson and Howell on the Shore. In Florida, Stuart is the most common delivery, then Fort Lauderdale, then single drops in Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Belle Glade, Riverview and Gainesville. On a tight North Jersey street or inside a Treasure Coast gate the driver names a nearby lot and confirms it by phone the evening before; elsewhere the car is collected and delivered at the door.

It is the month to book early for, not to avoid. October has been our busiest booking month on this lane since 2023, with July behind it, and the trucks still moved: the two-day median wait includes those weeks. What the October crowd loses is flexibility, because a fixed single-day pickup in the last two weeks of the month is where our longest waits sit. A booking made in September with a three to five day window rides the rush comfortably; a booking made on the twenty-fifth for the twenty-eighth does not.

Yes. A second vehicle shares the same trailer and the same dispatch, so it pays an incremental rate instead of a full second move, and a golf cart rides strapped in the lower deck the same way. Give the year, make and model of each unit, or the cart’s dimensions, and whether each one runs, and the order is quoted as one with one delivery window on the Treasure Coast.
