This resulted in the abolishment of the “separate but equal” doctrine in public schools. Kansas is also known for its contributions to jazz music and barbecue.
Kansas has some nicknames including Sunflower State, Wheat State, and Jayhawk State of the country. The state’s motto is “Ad Astra per Aspera” which means “to the stars through difficulties” which simulates its history of struggle.

The state is home to most of Yellowstone National Park, one of the most reputable national parks in the country.

The Grand Prismatic Spring is the largest hot spring in the United States.
